Un año después del tremendo éxito de su álbum Raphael: 50 Años Después, el artista de Linares regresa con una nueva realidad: Raphael, 50 Años Después: En Directo y al Completo. El estreno en Estados Unidos del especial de televisión se transmitirá por WPBT, Canal 2, el jueves, 11 de marzo a las 8 p.m.

Grabado el 26 de junio del 2009, en la plaza de toros de Las Ventas en Madrid, el concierto celebra el medio siglo del artista en el escenario. Es una exhibición de poderío y dominio de su arte. Este fue un concierto histórico por muchos motivos. Medio siglo en la música es algo al alcance de muy pocos y cuando se lleva con dignidad y manteniéndose fiel a un estilo propio, es aún más escaso. Pero lo más impactante es ver a Raphael en el escenario, defendiendo su historia con todo su corazón, alma y vida. Fue un  momento cumbre de la gira española más importante del año.

“No tengo proyectos, tengo realidades”, es algo que Raphael dice a menudo. Como indica su título, Raphael, 50 años Después: En Directo y al Completo, es una edición extraordinaria, enriquecida y aumentada (muy enriquecida y muy aumentada) de su exitoso último álbum que refleja su inconformismo y su innato espíritu de superación. “Lo que hice anoche pasó y hoy tengo que hacerlo mejor. Mientras tenga esa ilusión, sigo adelante. No me gusta hablar del pasado. Cada día es diferente”, dice Raphael. Y poniendo manos a la obra, nos sorprende de nuevo con otro proyecto monumental.

Raphael, 50 Años después: En Directo y al Completo es un nuevo hito en la carrera del artista de Linares. Una carrera que en sus bodas de oro se muestran más pujante que nunca. El año pasado, Raphael realizó una gira con más de 50 conciertos en España, las Américas y Europa. En noviembre recibió el Premio Oye en México, país que le ha dedicado un sorteo extraordinario de lotería con un billete conmemorativo como homenaje a su carrera, siendo el primer artista español en recibirlo.

Raphael se mantiene increíblemente activo después de cincuenta años en el escenario, y lo celebra con Raphael, 50 Años Después: en Directo y al Completo. Pero, como él dice, “no me gusta ahondar en un éxito ni prolongarlo. Hay que volver la página. Ha sido una etapa espléndida de mi carrera y estoy agradecido. Mucho amor puesto por mí y mucho amor dado por la gente, pero esto no es un adiós; es un punto y seguido”.

Recorded on June 26, 2009, with the bullring of Las Ventas in Madrid full to capacity, the concert celebrates his half-a-century on stage. It is a display of power and mastery of his art. This was a historic concert for many reasons. A musical career of fifty years is not something achieved by many artists and when this is done with dignity and being faithful to a unique style, it is even rarer. But what has more impact is seeing Raphael on stage, defending his history with all his heart, soul and life. This was one of the highest points of the most important Spanish tour of the year.

“I have no projects, I have realities” is something that Raphael often says.  As its title says, Raphael, 50 Years Later; Live and in Full is an extraordinary edition, enriched and bigger (much enriched and much bigger) of that last album that reflects his nonconformity and his innate determination to excel. “What I did last night is gone and today I have to do it better. As long as I have this dream, I forge ahead. I don’t like to talk about the past. Each day is different,” says Raphael. And getting down to work he surprises us again with another monumental job.

Raphael, 50 Years Later; Live and in Full is a new milestone in the career of the Linares’ artist. A career that on its golden anniversary is as strong as ever. In the past year, Raphael toured giving more than 50 concerts in Spain, the Americas and Europe. On November 24th he received the Oye Award in México, a country that dedicated to him an extraordinary lotto drawing printing a commemorative ticket to honor his career. He is the first Spanish artist to receive this honor.

Raphael is incredibly active after fifty years on stage, and he celebrates this with Raphael, 50 Years Later; Live and in Full. But, as he says, “I don’t like to probe deep into a success, or prolong it. We must turn the page. This has been a splendid part of my career and I am grateful. I have given a lot of love and the public has given me much love, but this is not a good-bye; it is just the beginning of more to come.”
