Matisyahu
Wednesday, August 4th at 8:00 p.m. on WPBT2
Matisyahu Live In Israel features beautifully shot footage of the famed Hasidic musician walking the streets of Jerusalem, and performing in Tel Aviv, Israel. The program was filmed and produced in 2006 just as Matisyahu had achieved true crossover success in the mainstream, and on the heels of his first major label release Youth on Epic Records which debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 charts. The program gives a rare backstage look at Matisyahu rehearsing new material, spending time with his family and band, and performing acoustic versions of songs in the historic Old City of Jerusalem; including 11 interviews with the singer. Directed by Matt Skerritt, produced by Gregg Gilmore and Calvin Aurand, and field directed by Matisyahu’s wife Tahlia Miller, the program gives old and new fans alike a powerful performance from a true original artist, while pealing back the curtain to experience what makes Matisyahu so spiritually and musically relevant to the modern mainstream music scene today.
