Maestro James Levine: 40 Years at the Met
Award-winning filmmaker Susan Froemke follows Levine during coaching sessions, rehearsals and performances at the world’s leading opera house. Included in the film are intimate scenes between the maestro and longtime collaborator Plácido Domingo as they rehearse Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra; intense rehearsals with the MET Orchestra as they prepare for their first performance of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony at Carnegie Hall.

Nixon in China
The program stars James Maddalena as Richard Nixon, a role he created at the opera’s world premiere in 1987. concert pays tribute to the Great Cuban Songbook and provides an anthology of Cuban music as well as Cuban culture.

The 1950s could be considered the last days of innocence. While Elvis gyrated to "Jailhouse Rock," Pat Boone mused about "Love Letters In The Sand." Pop music, short for "popular," was just that: music enjoyed by mom, dad and kids alike. The PBS concert special The Magic Moments: The Best Of '50s Pop, taped at the Trump Taj Majal in Atlantic city on April 21, 2004, celebrates that era with many stars of the '50s singing their biggest hits.

The program is an uplifting collection of unique, trans formative stories and inspiring personal narratives told through the lens of the country’s most prominent LGBT figures and pioneers, as well as many average, yet extraordinary, citizens from Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans gender communities. The program weaves together diverse stories - from urban and rural America, from the heartland to New England, from San Francisco to Harlem.

John Denver: The Wildlife Concert
The program is an intimate performance from 1995 featuring the songs that made John Denver an American treasure, including “Rocky Mountain High,” “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Annie’s Song” and “Sunshine on My Shoulders.” This concert, a benefit for the Wildlife Conservation Society, features candid interviews that express Denver's commitment to nature.

Filmed in high definition from a helicopter, the program provides a bird’s-eye view of the wonders of America’s first national park. The program explores Yellowstone’s geological history, wildlife, native peoples, and its role as a popular tourist destination.

Simon & Garfunkel: Songs of America
Taped in 1969, this CBS television program aired during a turbulent time in our nation’s past. Considered controversial at the time, the show features footage of Simon and Garfunkel on stage, in the studio and on tour. It also integrates video montages of key events of the era, including news clips of Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, activist Cesar Chavez, and the Poor People's March on Washington.

Changing Seas
WPBT2’s popular ocean series returns this month with four exciting new episodes. This season the documentary series examines timely issues affecting the oceans, ranging from the lionfish invasion to the aftermath of the Gulf Oil Spill. Venture into the blue with scientists on a mission to better understand the threats our oceans are facing and how ecological balance might be restored.

America's top gumshoes are back to prove once again that an object found in an attic or backyard might be anything but ordinary. Wesley Cowan, independent appraiser and auctioneer; Gwendolyn Wright, historian and professor of architecture, Columbia University; Elyse Luray, independent appraiser and expert in art history; Dr. Eduardo Pagan, professor of history and American studies at Arizona State University; and Tukufu Zuberi, professor of sociology and the director of the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania leave no stone unturned as they travel around the country to explore the stories behind local folklore, prominent figures and family legends.
