About Farah Larrieux of Haiti Journal
Farah began her entertainment career at the young age of 18, where she worked as a television host and radio personality at Telemax and Radio Vision 2000 in Haiti. She would later go on to host programs at two other radio stations, Signal FM and Planèt Kreyòl. As an actress, Farah had roles in the films Cicatrices 2 and Protège-moi.
In 2002, Farah entered the public relations field, and together with Pierre-Michel Théodat, she founded THELAR Advertising in Haiti. A year after she moved to the United States, she found herself being immensely involved with the Haitian music industry in South Florida. She worked with well-established and professional bands, such as Nu Look and Zenglen, and collaborated with well-known Haitian producer Fred Paul and The Rhythm Foundation. For three years, she worked with TMG, Inc. and Kaliko Productions as the public relations arm of the Haitian Independence Festival.
In addition to her work in public relations, from 2006 to 2008, Farah worked as an international scout representing Haiti at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, California. She has also been a judge in the National Miss American Coed Pageants since 2007.
Farah is currently a member of the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF) and the Haitian American Professionals Coalition (HAPC).
About Joel Fuhrman M.D.
Dr. Fuhrman is a renowned speaker and author. His work has been acclaimed as "a medical breakthrough for weight loss, disease reversal and prevention". His signature book Eat To Live: The Revolutionary Plan for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss, first published by Little, Brown & Company in 2003 spawned multiple foreign editions and over 20 re printings. Due to it's enduring popularity it was updated and revised for 2011. In addition, Dr. Fuhrman's articles, case studies, and advice are widely published, from medical journals such as the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Orthopedics and Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, to consumer publications such as Mothering Magazine and Health Science.
He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and has received the St. Joseph's Family Practice Resident's Teaching Award for his contribution to the education of residents. In addition, Dr. Fuhrman provides nutritional education to other physicians, and is a guest lecturer at Cornell University Graduate Program in Human Nutrition.
Dr. Fuhrman is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Health Association; Advisory Panel, The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine; Diplomat, American Academy of Family Physicians; Sports Medicine Committee, Professional Skaters Guild of America; and PwC Health and Performance Advisory Panel, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Whole Foods Market, Inc., a leader in natural and organic foods, selected Dr. Fuhrman as a partner to create their Health Starts Here initiative, a program geared toward promoting the health of Whole Foods team members and customers. Dr. Fuhrman provides nutritional guidance via week long immersion programs and in-store lectures. His books, supplements and food products are featured in stores.
As one of the country's leading experts on nutrition and natural healing, Joel Fuhrman, M.D. has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows including: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, Today, Good Morning America, the Discovery Channel, TV Food Network, CNBC and many more. He was recently invited to speak at the World Preservation Conference at the House of Parliament about his accomplishments in demonstrating the power of a micronutrient-rich, plant-based diet to prevent and reverse disease, relieving the burden of dietary-related chronic disease overwhelming the modern world.
Joel Fuhrman is a former world class figure skater and member of the United States World Figure Skating Team. In 1973, he placed second in the United States National Pairs Championships. In the World Professional Pairs Skating Championship in Jaca, Spain in 1976, he placed third. His dedication to sports medicine, health and fitness, preventive care and medicine speak to these lifelong interests.
Dr. Fuhrman lives in Flemington, New Jersey with his wife, Lisa, daughters, Talia, Jenna and Cara and son, Sean.
