WPBT2 and FLAEYC Host Live Education Call-In and Webcast

What: WPBT2, in association with the Florida Association for the Education of Young Children (FLAEYC), will host a live call-in broadcast and webcast entitled, Early Care and Education: A Guide for Parents. The program will be hosted by Helen Ferré, host of WPBT2’s public affairs program, Issues. It will center on topics including recognizing the best early learning facility for children and second language acquisition. South Florida education experts: Luis A. Hernandez, Early Childhood Education Specialist for Western Kentucky University, Nancy Brown, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at Florida Atlantic University and Mileidis Gort, Ed.D., Assistant Professor of Literacy and Bilingual Education at the University of Miami will answer viewer calls on-air.

Where: Viewers can submit their questions via phone at 1-800-222-9728. Experts will also chat with the community via webcast at http://www.wpbt2.org/webcast. Viewers will also be able to submit their questions to the WPBT2 Facebook page as well as twitter using the hashtag #earlycareeducation.

When: The broadcast of Early Care and Education: A Guide for Parents will be on Thursday, September 1 at 8pm on WPBT2. The live streaming and chat will occur simultaneously on http://www.wpbt2.org/webcast.

Why: WPBT2 and FLAEYC will host this live call-in and webcast in an effort to inform the community of the key indicators of a proper early learning facility for their children and the issues surrounding those whose first language is not English. The call-in and chat features will also give viewers a rare opportunity to speak with education experts and ask any questions they may have about the topics discussed.

ABOUT FLAEYC
The Florida Association for the Education of Young Children (FLAEYC) is the largest professional organization for people working in the early care and education field in the state of Florida.  We are part of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Southern Early Childhood Association (SECA).  FLAEYC’s 3200 members serve in all levels of early childhood education, working directly with thousands of families with children birth to age eight, as well as at the high school and college level training teachers.
