Human Resources Generalist

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Directly responsible developing a strategic HR plan to ensure adequate resources to meet the strategic goals and operation of SFPBS. Will work closely with executive management team to assess and forecast HR needs in each division based on the strategic goals of the organization. Develop a gap analysis, internal training programs, oversee compensation practices and ensure that job descriptions are complete and up-to-date. Responsible for administering, distributing and monitoring employee performance evaluations and that they are processed in a timely manner. Establishes and participates in an employee activities committee, arranging special functions for staff. Administers worker’s compensation insurance/policy following carrier and state guidelines. Prepares OSHA reports annually. This position will work at both the South Facility, located in North Miami, FL and the North Facility, located in Boynton Beach, FL.

High school graduate or equivalent. College graduate with degree in related field desirable. Minimum of three to four years of experience in the areas of HR strategic planning, wage and salary administration, laws, and administrative matters. Must have excellent verbal and writing skills, be detail oriented, and the ability to meet deadlines and follow through. Being able to set goals, delegate responsibilities and motivate personnel is essential. Strong math aptitude. Specific experience working in high pressure situations with an emphasis on a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to deal well with people from all walks of life is a must.

DEVELOPMENT AND MEMBERSHIP

Data Management Analyst

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Directly reporting to the Director of Data Management & Research, responsible for performing various data management functions including data entry and report production, gift processing and the various database systems to support the development team with emphasis on providing highest quality reports in a timely manner to help facilitate reaching division goals.

The main functions of this position include: data entry; data scrubbing; running accurate reports; managing report requests in a timely manner; monitoring user access and efficiency; and scheduling training while maintaining the integrity of the data and ensuring confidentiality as it relates to donor records. Also responsible for guiding all protocols and policies as it relates to donor management. Updating users on current trends while providing ongoing individual and group training. Collaborating with and supporting the Director, Development Services in all aspects of gift processing.

College Degree in Computer Science preferred. Ongoing training and professional development expected. Five years of directly related experience in data processing and management environment. Advanced knowledge of computers and data management systems, especially Blackbaud, with expertise on development data extraction and reporting. Familiar with development accounting and finance practices and principles. Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and creatively research and implement new procedures. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, read, comprehend, reason, and perform basic mathematic calculations and analyses. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Flexible hours as needed. A sense of humor is important.

UNDERWRITING AND SALES

Director of Underwriting

This is an excellent opportunity for the right sales professional to join our team! Under the general supervision of the Managing Director SFPBS, The Health Chanel and Comtel Inc. the Director of Underwriting will be responsible for participating in identifying, developing, and signing partnership, sponsorship and advertising deals that drive new and existing revenue for the company’s media properties.

The Director of Underwriting will create, execute, and drive revenue growth for WPBT, WXEL, The Health Channel and COMTEL Inc. through underwriting, creating strategic partnerships, and integrating sponsors messages in the TV and digital outlets available from these highly regarded media properties. Introduce advertisers and agencies to PBS TV and Digital properties. Find innovative ways to engage and deliver value to sponsors who are new to PBS. Cultivate new relationships with corporations, ad agencies, and local businesses. Convert sponsors and advertisers from your existing book of business to reach the PBS audience through the SFPBS properties online and over the air. Work collaboratively and strategically with your supervisor to deliver the highest possible returns for the company. Closing business through a strong volume of calls, meetings, and proposals is paramount to success in covering the large territory this position provides. Creating growth through new strategic partnership opportunities for specific programming projects. Develop, maintain and present marketing materials and data through strong enthusiastic presentations. Collaborate with colleagues to develop a winning mixture that delivers results.

Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five 5 years demonstrated experience in selling broadcast and digital sponsorships, advertising and underwriting. Proven experience in prospecting, building and closing strategic partnerships. A solid book of business and history of performance. Active client base in South Florida with strong documented record of revenue growth. Excellent computer skills with a strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with Salesforce or RE. Able to work independently. Demonstrated success in account management, communications and/or marketing. Proficient with creating compelling presentations. Ability to work remotely and still deliver strong sales results. A strong, enthusiastic spirit that allows you to see opportunity at every turn.

Sponsorship/Underwriting Coordinator

This is an excellent opportunity for the right sales coordinator to join our team! Under the general supervision of the Managing Director SFPBS, The Health Chanel and Comtel Inc. the Sponsorship/Underwriting Coordinator is responsible for assisting the executive sales team with on-air acknowledgements, marketing, invoicing and data entry.

The main functions of this position will be to Manage On-air acknowledgments, contract and spot information, and secure placement in daily program logs. Coordinate traffic logs and track sold inventory. Handle all aspects of customer fulfillment. Including assisting with delivery of affidavits and scheduling make goods. Organize customer events and alerts. Help prepares and/or assist with contracts for Marketing Sales Representatives regarding program sponsorship and general support announcements. Assist Sales Executives with organizing marketing materials and creating customized sales presentations that will help executives “close business”. Prepare invoice requests and secures invoices. Generate post-spot placement reports in conjunction with invoicing. Handle client concerns regarding payments and statements. Assist with billing and collections. Enter sales data as directed into company software system RE or Salesforce. Maintain and update client records.

Ideal candidate will be a High school graduate or equivalent. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Minimum of three years of television or digital ad sales experience as a coordinator or sales person. Knowledge of fundraising and event coordination a plus. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to create engaging, visual presentations using applications like PowerPoint. Experience with Salesforce and/or RE Systems. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills. Excellent computer skills and aptitude. Excellent communication and people skills. Ability to handle detail work with extreme accuracy. Ability to handle matters of a confidential nature. Time management with the ability to handle multiple tasks.

ENGINEERING

Director, Technology/Operations

South Florida PBS is searching for a Director of Technology and Operations ready to take us towards the next-generation of media technologies and infatuations as the organization shifts from traditional broadcasting to new platforms based on IP and cloud-based solutions.

Under the general supervision of the Sr. VP Technology/Operations will work collaboratively with peers within the technology division to ensure that all engineering and IT capabilities for South Florida PBS are innovative and solution oriented, meeting current and future needs. Oversees the operations and maintenance functions of all technical personnel, equipment and infrastructure to ensure a smooth and efficient operation for broadcast, production and NexGen endeavors. Operates the station in compliance with all FCC rules and regulations Facilitates short and long-term engineering planning including, but not limited to, establishing technical standards, methods and priorities. Develops long term goals and action plans to ensure smooth implementations of new technologies to meet company-wide goals. Troubleshoots and repairs complex equipment used in our daily operation including equipment associated with our broadcast operations, network infrastructure, transmission facilities, production control rooms, studios, graphics, editing and Comtel. Manages procurement of equipment. Develops and manages operational budgets and maintains proper documentation.

Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field. FCC General Class Radiotelephone license or SBE certification or equivalent work experience. Minimum of seven years of experience working in a broadcast facility or in the broadcast field. Familiarity with television operations and content creation. Strong IT based skills, networking and IP video distribution infrastructure, with knowledge of SMPTE 2110 and SMPTE 2022 beneficial. RF experience is a must. Knowledge of planning, technical design, construction, maintenance and operation of all aspects of broadcast facilities. Proven experience in leading a diverse team to meet organizational goals, as well as, effectively managing complex projects, budgets, and setting and accomplishing goals. Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint and AutoCAD software a must.

Able to communicate with all personnel. Ability to follow through on objectives without direct supervision. Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills. Must have an enthusiasm for the mission of South Florida PBS. Must work well under pressure.
